Sindh governor all set to break India’s record on Independence Day

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has said that Pakistan will surpass India’s record of the largest gathering singing the national anthem on the Independence Day.

According to sources, Tessori, while addressing an IT ceremony in Governor House Sindh, said that on August 14, more than 90,000 people will assemble at mausoleum of Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with the aim of surpassing India’s record for the largest rendition of the national anthem.

During his address, he further said 10,000 people will get free ration and a health insurance card will also be issued to the deserving people, as reported by the media.

“As long as I hold the position, the doors of the Governor house will always remain open for everyone,” Kamran Tessori added.

Punjab government bans rallies

The caretaker administration in Punjab enforced a ban on rallies set for August 14.

According to sources, a special law and order meeting about Independence Day was chaired on Friday by the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi.

During the meeting, CM Naqvi instructed the Inspector-General Punjab to ensure the safety of citizens throughout the province on the Independence Day.

Meanwhile, the Punjab caretaker government said that solely the act of hoisting the national flag will be permitted on August 14, with no political parties granted permission for holding rallies.

Furthermore, CM Naqvi stressed that strict actions would be taken against those responsible for inciting violence, engaging in disorderly behavior, practicing one-wheeling, and modifying motorcycles in public areas on the Independence day.
