Sindh govt to arrange burial of actress Humaira Asghar

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to conduct the burial of actress and model Humaira Asghar, whose decomposed body was found earlier this week in a Defence Phase 6 apartment.

Sindh Minister for Culture, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, contacted Additional IG Karachi regarding the matter and has appointed the Director General Culture as the focal person.

The Secretary Culture has also written to DIG South, requesting the handover of the body for burial purposes.

According to Zulfiqar Ali Shah, the Department of Culture will oversee all burial arrangements, including graveyard coordination.

He added that the Culture Department will act in collaboration with the police to handle the process with due responsibility.

Humaira Asghar’s body over six months old

Earlier, police had refused to hand over the body of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali to her brother-in-law, who claimed the body for burial.

The man identified himself as the actress’s brother-in-law contacted Gizri Police and requested to take custody of the body.

However, police summoned him to the station and asked him to bring a blood relative of the deceased along.

Police stated that as per the law, only a blood relative can receive the body of the deceased.

Humaira’s father had refused to collect the remains of his daughter when the police had contacted him earlier saying that he had severed ties with her several years back.
