KARACHI: Due to the ongoing cold wave across Sindh, the provincial education minister has instructed schools to relax the uniform code for students.
Additional Director Rafia Javed from the Directorate of Private Institutions issued an official circular to private schools in this regard.
The notification urged schools to show flexibility regarding uniforms during the winter season to safeguard students’ health.
It emphasized allowing children to wear warm clothing of their choice to protect themselves from the cold.
Winter vacations in schools start next week
Students in schools through out Sindh are permitted to wear sweaters, blazers, jackets, coats, caps, socks, and shoes based on their needs and convenience besides their uniform, according to the circular. This relaxation will remain in effect throughout the winter season.
The circular also directed schools to take all necessary measures to ensure classrooms remain warm and comfortable for students during this period.
Earlier the Punjab government had also relaxed the uniform policy for students of both public and private schools during the winter season.
The students will be allowed to wear jackets, sweaters, coats, socks and shoes of any colour.
The notification stated that the relaxed uniform policy will remain in effect until February 28, 2025, to safeguard students from the cold.
