Sindh schools to close tomorrow in observance of Chehlum

KARACHI: Public and private schools throughout Karachi and the wider Sindh province will be closed on Thursday, September 7, in observance of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
A notification, issued by the provincial education department, confirmed the decision to close educational institutions for the Chehlum holiday. The decision was made by a steering committee overseeing educational matters in the province.
Pakistan to repatriate illegally residing foreigners
Chehlum, commemorating Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), will be observed with deep religious fervor and reverence across the province on Thursday, amid heightened security measures.
This occasion signifies the conclusion of a 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram in 680 AD.
Throughout various cities in the province, mourning processions featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah will be organized.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of Chehlum processions.
