KURRAM: Unknown persons opened fire on a vehicle near Lower Kurram Mahora, police sources said on Wednesday. As per initial reports, six people have died in the firing incident.
The vehicle was going from Daradar to Sadda, police sources said, adding that the bodies of the deceased have been shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sadda.
A heavy contingent of police has reached the spot. Investigation into the incident has been started.
UPPER KURRAM ATTACK
Earlier in June, two Pakistani soldiers were martyred and eight others injured in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Upper Kurram. The attackers, armed with heavy weapons, crossed from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
Lance Naik Saleem died on the spot, while another soldier later succumbed to injuries. Locals supported security forces in tracking the attackers, responding to mosque loudspeaker calls, which led to one terrorist being captured.

He later revealed that the Taliban supplied their weapons. The injured had included Naib Subedar Javed Hussain and others. Security operations continue in the area amid a worsening security situation in the region.
CONFLICT-RIDDEN REGION
Kurram has been in the grip of violence for a very long time now. In addition to enmities between local warring tribes, Kurram has also frequently come under attack from external elements. In February this year, the security forces arrested 11 militants involved in an attack on a relief convoy in the Ochit area.
Parachinar had also been through intense blockades and lockdowns due to persistent violence incidents.
