ISLAMABAD: In a significant move towards enhancing urban services, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) inked an agreement with a private firm on Monday.
The collaboration aims to revolutionise car parking facilities across Islamabad, with a focus on modernisation and revenue-sharing principles.
The agreement, a culmination of decisions made during the 9th meeting of the CDA Board in October last year, entails the comprehensive digitisation of car parking infrastructure.
Under the terms, state-of-the-art parking equipment and cutting-edge management systems will be deployed across all parking lots within the city.
Integral to this initiative is the incorporation of an automatic and intelligent parking system at all designated sites in Islamabad. This move is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion, offering a more seamless experience for residents.
Following a rigorous bidding process that saw eight firms submit technical and financial proposals in November, the financial bids were unveiled on January 9.
Pursuant to the agreement, 25 per cent of the parking revenue will be directed to M/S AJCL, while the remaining 75 per cent will contribute to the CDA’s coffers.
An official from the CDA emphasised that the implementation of a modern and intelligent parking system is poised not only to address traffic issues but also holds the potential to stimulate the local economy.
This forward-thinking initiative is expected to streamline the daily lives of Islamabad’s residents while fostering economic growth.
