KOHAT: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, confidently declared his unrivaled position in politics during a rally in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday. Taking a veiled swipe at his political adversaries, Bilawal asserted that no contender, whether a player or otherwise, can match his political prowess.
In a subtle critique of opponents, he remarked that some are contesting elections solely for personal gains, aiming to secure their vested interests and remain out of jail. In contrast, Bilawal emphasised that he entered the political arena to address the issues plaguing the masses.
During the rally, Bilawal highlighted the PPP’s commitment to representing the workers and impoverished segments of society, distancing itself from elite associations. He pledged to usher in a new era of politics focused on serving the masses, burying the divisive politics of the past.

Expressing optimism about the upcoming general elections, Bilawal envisioned his party forming the government and ensuring the realisation of the people’s rights. Undeterred by security threats, he addressed concerns regarding holding party conventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affirming that PPP workers are neither afraid nor willing to surrender to terrorism.
Bilawal accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of attempting to roll back the 18th Amendment, aiming to curtail provincial autonomy. This public gathering is part of Bilawal’s ongoing election campaign leading up to the general elections scheduled for February 8 next year.
Touching upon the pending revisiting of the death sentence awarded to PPP founder and former prime minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Bilawal expressed hope that the truth surrounding the leader’s hanging would be revealed to the world.
The Supreme Court is set to address the 12-year-old presidential reference on this matter next week, as former President Asif Ali Zardari seeks to revisit the trial of the late PPP founder. The last hearing of the reference took place on November 11, 2022.
