LAHORE: Son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and private hospital owner Dr Shahid Siddique had admitted to killing his father.

According to police sources, Qayyum Shahid, son of PTI leader Dr Shahid, during interrogation admitted to killing his father through a hired gunman.

According to Qayyum Shahid he wanted his father dead as he wanted to marry a girl, which was resisted by his father also he (Dr Shahid) had refused to give him money.

He also admitted that the attempt on his father eight months back in Chohang was also orchestrated by him and he had paid Rs 5 million bounty to a shooter for this purpose.

Qayyum confessed to the police that half of the money has already been paid to the hired shooter while the remaining was to be paid after the ‘job’ would be done.

Police has registered the case against Qayyum Shahid and arrested him.

It is also surfaced that Qayyum Shahid had also led his father’s funeral prayers.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that at the time of the murder, Dr. Shahid was accompanied by his son Qayyum and his brother Sajid.

Dr Shahid Siddique went to offer prayers in Khizra Mosque at H-block of Valencia Town. Mr Siddque offered the prayer and came out of the mosque and was heading to his car when an unknown man approached him and shot at and injured him.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The victim suffered four bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he could not survive. The deceased Dr Siddique also worked as Lahore Transport Com­pany chairman during the PTI government.

Police have registered a case against four unidentified attackers and started an investigation.

Police also recorded statements from the family and eyewitnesses and collected video footage from CCTV cameras installed in nearby streets.

Initial investigations suggested that Dr Siddique was having a property dispute over a laboratory in Multan.
