MURREE: In anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations, the Murree Traffic Police have unveiled a special, comprehensive, and organised traffic plan to facilitate tourists in Murree.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Benish Fatima announced that 233 officers and personnel from the Murree Traffic Police will be on duty to manage the traffic. “All traffic from Rawalpindi and Islamabad will be directed through the Expressway and RMKGT Road,” stated CTO Fatima.

For the occasion, specific roads in the Murree Circle, including View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kaldna Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road, have been designated as one-way to ease congestion. Moreover, Murree Mall Road will be closed to all types of traffic, as confirmed by CTO Benish Fatima.

To further streamline the flow of traffic, five distinct sectors have been established in Murree, ensuring tourists can navigate easily and access necessary services. “Tourists will be provided with complete travel facilities as well as other services,” said the CTO.

Additionally, restrictions have been placed on heavy traffic, which will be completely barred from entering Murree from 6 AM to 2 PM “Murree buses and other large vehicles will not be permitted beyond Murree Brewery, Bansara Street, and Lower Topa,” stated CTO Fatima.

For those traveling to Murree and Azad Kashmir, access will be available via the Expressway. The CTO also announced that all types of parking would be completely banned up to 200 meters around critical junctions such as Jhika Gali Chowk, Kaldna Chowk, and Sunny Bank Chowk. Consequently, Murree GPO Chowk has been declared a parking-free zone.

“Parking has always been a significant challenge in the Murree Circle,” acknowledged CTO Benish Fatima, emphasising that these measures are aimed at ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors during the Independence Day festivities.
