ISLAMABAD: At least 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers, were killed by security forces after they attempted to infiltrate into Bannu Cantonment with explosive-laden vehicles.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists rammed their explosive-laden vehicles into the entrance of Bannu Cantonment.

“Five soldiers were killed in the exchange of fire, while the attack left 13 civilians dead and 32 others injured. A mosque was also damaged,” the statement said.
Intelligence reports suggest Afghan nationals were involved in the attack and that it was planned by militant leaders based in Afghanistan, the ISPR said.
“Pakistan urges the Afghan government not to allow its soil to be used to carry out such attacks against Pakistan. Pakistan will use its right to self defence to combat terrorism.”
The ISPR further said that the Pakistan army remains committed to eliminating terrorism, and the sacrifices of martyrs will not be in vain.
“The terrorists entered Bannu Cantonment from two different directions and, after an intense operation lasting several hours until this morning, all attackers were eliminated,” provincial minister Pakhtoon Yar Khan told AFP. He said that four children and three women were among the civilians killed in the attack.
