Three APP officials arrested for corruption

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Corruption Circle of Islamabad has arrested three officials from the Associated Press Corporation of Pakistan (APP) on charges of corruption, fraud, criminal negligence, and abuse of power.
The accused, Muhammad Ghawas, Saad Mudassar, and Mussawar Imran, have been implicated in a scheme that caused a significant loss to the national exchequer.

Ghawas, serving as Director IT, Mudassar as Chief Computer Engineer, and Imran as Deputy Director, were apprehended following the expiration of their pre-arrest bail. Initial investigations suggest that the trio was involved in corrupt activities that led to a Rs 124 million loss.
The accused were members of the procurement committee at APP and are alleged to have awarded a contract worth Rs 113 million to Artek System through collusion, fraud, and abuse of authority.
This contract was approved without the necessary authorisation from the competent authority. Furthermore, the accused reportedly fabricated minutes of the procurement committee meetings to secure bill approval from the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR).

Following their arrest, a formal investigation has been launched to uncover the full extent of the corruption. According to a spokesperson from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the inquiry is ongoing and aims to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions.
