Three car thieves killed in police encounter in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: An alleged encounter between police and a group of car thieves resulted in the deaths of three suspects and the arrest of a female accomplice. The incident occurred at Kashmir Chowk, in the vicinity of the Secretariat Police Station, according to police sources.

Crime surge in Islamabad over Eid: 71 cases reported

The group, consisting of four individuals, was reportedly entering Islamabad from Murree when they were intercepted by law enforcement. Acting on reports of car thieves attempting to break into the city, police swiftly cordoned off the area.

Upon spotting the police, the suspects opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange. In the ensuing confrontation, three of the car thieves were killed, while their female accomplice was apprehended.

A search of the vehicle used by the suspects uncovered a stolen car, an assortment of weapons, and several number plates from different vehicles, further confirming their involvement in criminal activities, police sources revealed.

Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover more details about the gang’s operations and to track down any other potential accomplices.
