Towel allegedly left in patient’s stomach at KTH

PESHAWAR: A shocking incident has emerged at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), where a towel was allegedly left in the stomach of a gynaecology patient.

The patient, admitted on June 25, underwent a caesarean section to deliver a baby girl on June 26.

After being discharged two days later, the patient returned to the hospital, complaining of severe abdominal pain. Despite initial hospital tests returning clear, the patient’s family sought private medical advice.

An ultrasound and additional tests revealed a towel left in the patient’s stomach.

In response, a KTH spokesperson said that the reliability of private laboratory tests is questionable but assured that a formal inquiry will be conducted into the matter.
