Trade, economy are recovering: Info Minister Tarar

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar held a press conference on Friday in which he discussed the recovering economy, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and foreign perceptions of Pakistan.

Tarar shared the improving international opinion regarding Pakistan’s economy. According to the minister, the president of Turkey stated that the Pakistani economy has recovered during the UNGA in New York.

He added that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program is strengthening the country’s economy and that the organization, along with the World Bank, lauded the economic development of the country. The minister believes that continued visits from global leaders will help to stabilize the economy.

Tarar discussed the decreasing current account deficit and increasing exports, citing that both rice and meat will be exported. “Pakistan will prove to be an excellent market for trade globally,” said Tarrar.

“Every country is speaking positively about Pakistan,” said the Federal Minister, referencing the positive reception to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address at the UNGA, stating that even opponents praised the PM’s speech.

Elaborating, he said that the PM stood before the world and raised the issues of occupied Kashmir, the plight of the Palestinian people, and Pakistan’s sacrifice in the fight against terrorism was also brought up.

FUTURE MEETINGS

Comprehensive arrangements are being made for the upcoming SCO Summit in Islamabad, a major event that is being held after many decades, which will be attended by the heads of governments from the member countries. The minister also mentioned that a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia will visit the country in the next few days.
