Transmission tower collapses after intense winds

HYDERABAD: Transmission Tower No. 100 of the 132 KV Thatta-Sujaw­al transmission line has collapsed due to powerful stormy winds, resulting in a disruption of electricity supply to Sujawal and Laadi­yoon grid stations.

The incident was confirmed by a spokesperson from the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO). In response to the incident, HESCO’s Chief, Muzaffar Ali Abbasi, issued directives for immediate action.

Chief Operating Officer Abdul Ghaffoor Shaikh, P.D GSC Maqsood Ahmed Korejo, and S.E GSO Ramesh Ku­mar, along with a team of technical experts and heavy machinery, were promptly dispatched to the site to address the situation.

Efforts are underway to swiftly install a new tower to replace the collapsed one. The HESCO spokesperson assured that the installation process is expected to be completed in a timely manner. Once the new tower is in place, electricity supply to the affected areas will be promptly restored, minimizing the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

The incident underscores the critical nature of maintaining robust transmission infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
