Tree uprooted by rainstorm destroys car in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Heavy rain and hailstorm lashed various cities including Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday evening.

As predicted by the Met Office, several areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi witnessed heavy rainfall and hail. A tree fell during strong winds and rain in Aabpara Market, completely destroying a car parked beneath it.

The road in Aabpara Market was also completely blocked due to the fallen tree. Rescue teams arrived at the scene.

Lahore also experienced heavy rain and hailstorm, which brought much-needed relief from the heat.

Thunderstorms and rain were reported in Khushab and surrounding areas, making the weather pleasant.

In Faisalabad, heavy rain fell, bringing smiles to residents’ faces as the “mercy of rain” blessed the city.

In Haripur and nearby areas, strong winds and thunderstorms accompanied the rainfall, breaking the intensity of the heat.

Due to strong winds, multiple feeders tripped, leading to widespread power outages across the city.

Lower Dir and its surroundings also experienced thunderstorms and rain, bringing relief from the heat and making the weather pleasant.

Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has activated all fire and rescue units across its substations to respond to the ongoing rain emergency.

Rescue teams are patrolling various sectors of Islamabad to maintain vigilance, manage emergencies, and provide prompt assistance to the public.

Several successful operations have been carried out, including the rescue of individuals from a tree-fall incident near Aabpara and the drainage of waterlogged low-lying areas.
