Wahab Riaz praises Sarfaraz Ahmed as ‘sharp-witted’ captain

LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has expressed his admiration for former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed over his exceptional leadership skills, referring to him as the “most sharp-witted” captains he has ever played with.

Riaz, who had the opportunity to share the field with various skippers including Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed, lauded each of them for their unique qualities.

The left-arm pacer underscored Sarfaraz’s acute captaincy acumen.

“Captaincy is an entirely different aspect of the game. I played under the captaincy of Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed. I believe Sarfaraz was one of the sharpest captains among them,” Wahab said.

He said that Misbah-ul-Haq was the most sensible and strategic-minded captain, while Malik and Afridi were incredibly supportive of the players.

“I had relatively little time to play alongside Babar. Undoubtedly, he was in his learning phase during that period. However, if I were to rate someone, Sarfaraz would be one of the best captains,” Wahab said .
