WASA begins Rs1.9 billion sewer replacement project in Johar Town Lahore

LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) Lahore has launched a major project to replace the trunk sewer along Khayaban-e-Firdousi in Johar Town, with a budget of Rs1.9 billion.
The project, aimed at enhancing the area’s drainage system, is expected to be completed within the next 10 months.
On Monday, WASA Lahore Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed visited the site to inspect the ongoing work, accompanied by Deputy Managing Director Abdul Latif, Johar Town Director Muhammad Danish, and other officials.
According to a project briefing, work has begun on the installation of a 72-inch pipeline, which will span 4.15 kilometres from Showk Chowk to Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
In addition, a sewer pipe stretching 250 feet will be laid underground on Nazaria Pakistan Road. It was further reported that the casing work for the underground pipeline had already been completed.
During the visit, Vice Chairman Shahbaz stressed the need for timely completion of the project, urging officials to ensure no compromise on quality.
He underlined the importance of following modern technical standards to create a durable and efficient drainage system that will serve the city’s needs for years to come.
