Weather today: Brace for continued heat with isolated rainfall

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a warning on Wednesday of persistently high temperature and dry conditions across the nations for the upcoming 24 hours.
However, sporadic rainfall is expected in few areas, including the Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and the upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Thepredicted partly cloudy skies across the northern Pakistan, with isolated strong winds and thundershowers likely in certain locations. The slightly moderate weather would offer some respite from the on-going heatwave.
In the last 24 hours, the weather had been predominantly hot and sunny across most of the country. Northeastern Punjab, northern Balochistan and Kalam experienced rainfall early in the morning on Wednesday (today), accompanied by strong gusts of winds and even thunderstorms.
Rainfall measurements in Punjab including Hafizabad with 8 millimeters (mm), Mandi Bahauddin with 5 mm, and. In Balochistan, the Barkhan area recorded 7 mm of rain, and Lahore with 2 mm. Meanwhile, Kalam in KP experienced 1 mm of rain.

On Tuesday, temperatures had soared at 43 degrees Celsius in turbat, making it as one of the hottest sports in the country. Sibi also recorded cooking temperatures, reaching 42 degrees Celsius.
The PMD urged citizens to take appropriate measured to protect themselves from the heat especially in ther regions where temperatures are projected to rise significantly. The combination of extreme heat and dry conditions poses increased health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups
