Weather today: Heavy rainfall expected across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to experience widespread weather disruptions, including rain and windstorms, due to a depression moving westward from Madhya Pradesh, India on Tuesday (today).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather system is also bringing strong monsoon currents and a westerly wave across the country today.

Across Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab (including Islamabd), Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, residents can expect heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

Islamabad and the surrounding regions are forecast to experience cloudy conditions with rain. Heavy rainfall is possible, with a 70 per cent chance.

Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall is expected across Balocshitan, inclduing Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Awaran, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Jaffarabad, Kohlu.

Dera Bugti, Zhob, Quetta, Ziarat, Sherani, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Loralai, Mastung, Bolan, Jhal Magsi, Kech, Panjgur, Gwadar, and Ormara can expect little to heavy rainfall.

Rainfall with strong gusts of wind is predicted for Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot and Faisalabad.

Similarly, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, and Rahimyar Khan can also expect rain and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile in Sindh, Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mityari, Sanghar, and Karachi can also expect heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, intetmittent rain is forecast in Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Naushahro Feroze.

In the northern regions, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, and Abbottabad should brace for strong showers with windstorms.

Light to heavy rainfall is also expected in Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is expected at isolated places. Heavy rainfall may occur in some areas.
