Heavy rain and snowfall expected across Pakistan


Pakistan Meteorological Department issues weather warning throughout Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a warning for heavy rain and snowfall in various regions of the country on Monday.

Cloudy weather with rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall is expected on February 19 across Pakistan. Rainfall with occasional snow is expected Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Meanwhile, rainfall with hailstorms is predicted for the Potohar region, Punjab, and northern Balochistan.

In Islamabad and surrounding regions, intermittent rain with thunderstorms and hailstorms are expected.

Southern Balochistan might experience dry weather in most districts. However, rain and occasional snowfall is likely in specific areas.

Similarly, Sindh is expected to have dry weather with strong winds.

Punjab is likely to see rain with strong winds in various districts including Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Kasur. Murree and the surrounding areas might witness snowfall, as well.

In GB and Kashmir, intermittent rain with strong winds and snowfall are expected.

KP is likely to experience rain with strong winds while heavy rain or snowfall is expected in upper regions.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay indoors.

Weather warning

Areas in northern Pakistan including Murree, Swat, Shangla, Poonch, Naran, Kaghan, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan and Havellian are likely to experience disruptions and road closures due to severe weather conditions.

Landslides are possible in Murree, and Kashmir, GB and upper parts of KP.
