Imran Riaz escapes to London, thanks Qasim Suri

LONDON: Former anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan has arrived in London, after fleeing Pakistan. Riaz shared the news over X formerly Twitter, thanking former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Qasim Suri for assisting him.

Imran Riaz’s family confirmed to Geo News that he had reached safely and would return once the conditions become safer for him. He said that it is better for one to leave their home country by navigating danger zones instead of accepting deals that transport one to safer area in special planes.

“I am grateful that I stood firmly against every injustice. I endured the worst torture and terrible imprisonment, with 10 arrests and various other cases. I could not even go to perform Hajj but I have been patient, and would return to Pakistan once I have fulfilled some important responsibilities assigned to me,” his tweet read.

Imran Riaz had gone missing for months last year before he was recovered in September 2023.

Thanking Suri for his guidance Imran Riaz said that he had also left the country through the land route.

Riaz revealed that he undertook a treacherous overland journey, facing dangers and even wild animal attacks. Facing numerous legalities, Imran Riaz was allegedly involved in spreading misinformation. He has a considerable following especially amongst Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters.

Addressing the accusations of misinformation Imran Riaz in an earlier interview with Geo News said that he was also a human who was capable of sharing ‘fake news’: “However, I have deleted any such news when pointed out.”

Recently, the FIA Cybercrime Circle named eight people who were involved in sharing doctored images of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which were sent by Shehbaz Gill and Imran Riaz.
