Who is Shahid Lund? Social media gangster killed by police

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Shahid Lund was shot dead in a joint operation by police forces in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur on Friday.

The social media gangster was wanted for 28 cases which included kidnapping for ranson, terrirosim, killing policemen, and armed robberies. Punjab police Chief Dr. Usman Anwar stated that the joint operation was a major success.

Initial reports stated that an associate and family member of Shahid, Umar Lund, had killed him due to a dispute. The police had previously put a RS 10 million bounty on his head.

Shahid Lund, leader of the Lund gang, had amassed a following on various social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

With a combined following of over 200,000 across platforms, Lund would lay honey-traps, through which victims, enticed by business partners, cheap advertisements, or romantic suitors, were lured and subsequently kidnapped.

Lund claims to have turned into a ‘vigilante’ after his family members were killed in tribal clashes, painting himself and his peers as people neglected and ignored by the government. In one social media post, he claimed that check post personnel in Rahim Yar Khan continually discriminated against them.

He had previously told the AFP that the villagers where he lives “are not viewed as human but as animals.”
