PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has criticised the federal government’s proposed 26th constitutional amendment, calling it an assault on democratic principles.

He condemned the political parties that are supporting the amendment, saying that they should feel “ashamed” for backing such legislation.
CM Gandapur vowed to utilise every available constitutional avenue to protect their legitimate rights. “Introducing such a bill is an extreme move,” he said, adding, “We will first defeat it in parliament, and then take the matter to court.”

The chief minister also said that the proposed bill would face strong opposition, enough to discourage such bills from ever being presented again in the future.
