56 PTI workers granted bail, 22 await verdict; Gohar, Swati’s hearing pending

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has granted bail to 56 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain gave a decision on bail applications. The cases pertained to events of PTI protest on November 26.

Advocate Sardar Masroof appeared in court on behalf of the PTI workers, for cases registered in Tarnol and Kohsar police stations.
22 OTHER PTI WORKERS AWAIT COURT’S DECISION
District and Sessions Courts Islamabad presided over a hearing on the matter of cases registered against PTI workers on November 26 protest. The court reserved judgment on bail application of 22 PTI workers, in cases registered at Ramna Police Station.
During the hearing proceedings, defence lawyer Sardar Masroof told the court that the bails of the accused have been obtained from the Islamabad High Court (IHC). He said that these PTI workers have been politically implicated in another case after being granted bail in one case.
“In light of the IHC’s decision, the court should grant the bails of these workers,” Advocate Masroof said.

Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Gondal reserved the verdict after completion of arguments.
VERDICT RESERVED ON SWATI’S ACQUITTAL
Meanwhile, the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad has reserved verdict on the acquittal plea of PTI leader Saleh Muhammad Khan Swati.
Swati is facing charges for protesting against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over disqualification of PTI’s former chairman Imran Khan. The case has been registered at the Secretariat Police Station.
Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khan presided over the hearing, while Swati had filed an application for exemption from appearance.
The court adjourned the hearing due to the absence of the accused. Judgment has been reserved on Swati’s acquittal in the case, which will now be given on the next hearing on April 23.
PTI CHAIRMAN SEEKS EXEMPTION FROM ATTENDANCE
In yet another case, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan sought exemption from attendance in the District and Sessions Court Islamabad. Barrister Gohar and others are facing charges under Section 144 violations cases.

Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khan presided over the hearing of cases filed at I-9 police station.
Due to absence of Barrister Gohar, arguments could not be made on his acquittal application. The court adjourned the hearing of the cases until April 23.
Two cases have been registered against Barrister Gohar Khan and others for violating Section 144.
