ISLAMABAD: Former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has revealed that the former Army Chief was implicated in distributing funds to individuals involved in the Faizabad sit-in.
In an interview, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader stated that, during a Security Committee meeting, the ex-Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa reportedly acknowledged providing financial assistance to participants of the Faizabad sit-in.
Khawaja Asif further elaborated that the former army chief clarified that the funds were allocated to facilitate the return of sit-in participants who lacked the financial means to travel back home.
Asif added that General Qamar Javed Bajwa personally told him about the disbursement of funds, underscoring their control over all aspects of the sit-in.
According to Asif, if political leaders fail to take decisive action, the status quo of the past 75 years will endure.
