PTI’s Barrister Saif says protestors are moving forward according to plan and they are in no hurry
LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has criticized the protest tactics being used by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
She alluded to the disagreements between the wife and sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan. “Bushra Bibi was making a speech from a container with four people listening in front of her,” Bukhari said, adding that she has been looking for Imran Khan’s sister Aleema since yesterday. “I wanted to inquire about her well-being,” she said.
Highlighting the clashes that erupted between PTI protestors claiming to be “peaceful” and the police personnel, Bukhari said, “Six officials have been seriously injured due to the violence of ‘peaceful’ people near Khanna Pul in Islamabad”. She added that a police van was also burnt by the protestors.
Bukhari said, “PTI and peace have no connection with each other”.
THE PROTEST
PTI has announced a protest rally and a sit-in in the federal capital until Imran Khan is released. The opposition party is also demanding that the 26th constitutional amendment is repealed. The party had scheduled the protest for Sunday (yesterday) but the convoys of the protestors are yet to reach Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the federal government had warned the PTI against staging protests, and has also informed them of potential security threats from anti-state elements. However, PTI leadership has vowed to continue with the protest against all odds.
PTI Spokesperson Barrister Saif said, “We are moving forward as per our plan, we are in no hurry. The government has clocks but we have time”.
He added that PTI’s protest will continue, irrespective of the blockades by the government.
