LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has extended the pre-arrest bail of sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, along with former finance minister Asad Umar.

The extension comes in light of multiple cases related to the May 9 riots.

Aleema and Uzma Khan along with Asad Umar appeared in the court proceedings presided over by Judge Arshad Javed, and sought extension of their pre-arrest bail. The bail was due to expire but now has been prolonged until March 20.

As part of the ongoing legal battle, Asad Umar filed for bail in connection with the Shadman police station attack, while the Khan sisters submitted bail petitions concerning the incidents involving the Askari Tower in Gulberg, the torching of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) offices in Model Town, and an attack on a container near Kalma Chowk. Additionally, both sisters remain on bail in the Jinnah House attack case until April 20.

Moreover, a special court for anti-corruption has extended the pre-arrest bail of PTI President Parvaiz Elahi’s family members—wife Qaisera Elahi, son Rasikh Elahi, and daughter-in-law Zara Elahi—in the Rawalpindi Ring Road corruption case.

The extension, granted by Judge Safdar Ali Bhatti, allows for continued legal proceedings until March 22.
