Tarar warns PTI of consequences for defaming army martyrs

LAHORE: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar issued a warning to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here on Sunday, for defamation campaign against martyrs of armed forces in North Waziristan.
He alleged that the PTI’s social media team orchestrated a derogatory campaign targeting Pakistan Army and the soldiers martyred in combat yesterday. He added that action would be taken against those responsible for the campaign.

He noted that many of the offending social media accounts were operated from outside Pakistan, with followers residing within the country.
At least seven Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in the tragic incident, including a lieutenant colonel and a captain. In his statement, Tarar lauded Pakistan Army, police, and civilians in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
Expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs, Tarar reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to honouring their sacrifices.

He also urged national unity and spoke on respecting “red lines”, affirming that legal action would be pursued against those who cross them.
