ISLAMABAD: “People in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) say that I am not part of PTI, even though I am facing 48 cases and my name is on Exit Control List (ECL),” said former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry.

Speaking in Hum News’ program Subh Se Agay, Chaudhry said that other PTI leaders like PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja, Sheikh Waqas Akram and Rauf Hassan are still allowed to go abroad. He said that there is no case against the current leadership of PTI, but the older members are being treated differently.

“These people were installed to undermine the real leadership of PTI,” Chaudhry said, adding that he, along with other PTI members, is forming a release committee which will consist of older members of PTI.

Speaking on the incident of slapping Shoaib Shaheen at Adiala Jail, Fawad Chaudhry said “Look at [his] language. Of course I won’t be showering them with flowers. Personal attacks do make one angry. Such an incident should not have happened,” he added.

Former information minister said that Imran Khan asked that why do we keep fighting like children. “in the last three meetings of the political committee, nothing was done except making statements against me. They have no strategy to secure Imran Khan’s release. They are making a strange and absurd statements that the Imran Khan himself does not want to come out of the jail,” Chaudhry said.

Fawad Chaudhry said that as long as this current leadership of PTI continues to hold office, Imran Khan will not be freed from imprisonment. “They are not doing anything to bring him out and are just enjoying the funding,” Chaudhry alleged.

He said that the current PTI leadership is prioritizing personal matters over Imran Khan’s politics.

Speaking on Sher Afzal Marwat being kicked out of PTI, he said, “I am not in favor of expelling anyone from the party. Every party has different people and everyone has an opinion. Sher Afzal Marwat has differences with me, he keeps criticizing. [But] there are few people who can get the attention of the public and the media.

He said that he and the older PTI leadership is with Imran Khan, and they will do as Khan instructs them.
