ISLAMABAD: Amid escalating internal discord within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), speculations have arisen regarding the potential return of former federal information minister Fawad Chaudhry to the party fold.

Reports suggest that Fawad may soon get a meeting with the currently incarcerated founding chairman of PTI Imran Khan to formalise the re-joining. There are also reports that Fawad will be entrusted with a significant role within the party hierarchy.

Media reports also claim that Imran has endorsed Fawad’s re-entry.

Meanwhile, PTI’s internal strife has deepened over the appointment of the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament.

PTI leaders Sher Afzal Marwat and Shibli Faraz found themselves at odds over the issue, with Marwat criticising Faraz for his stance. Marwat insists on retracting Faraz’s statement, alleging misrepresentation of PTI’s position regarding the PAC chairmanship.

Earlier statements by Faraz suggested imminent nomination of a candidate for the coveted PAC top slot, with shifting dynamics complicating the decision-making process. Marwat, initially touted as a frontrunner for the position, saw his prospects dwindle following objections raised by the National Assembly (NA) Speaker’s office.

Subsequently, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza emerged as a surprising nominee for the position, triggering further discord within PTI ranks.
