ISLAMABAD: A tense situation unfolded in the capital as protesters clashed with police forces, leading to the tragic death of police officer Abdul Hameed Shah, who was martyred while on duty.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar addressed the nation, sharing details of the violence and the government’s response.

Abdul Hameed Shah, who leaves behind two sons and a daughter, was on the frontlines during the protest, the minister said, adding, the demonstrators pelted stones at the police near Sangjani and attempted to create widespread chaos. “Their goal was clear—to make bodies fall,” Tarar said.
He condemned the violence, pointing out that miscreants had tortured Abdul Hameed Shah, leading to his death. Despite the unrest, Tarar reassured the public that the situation was now under control. “These agitators aim to derail the country’s progress, but their attempts have failed,” he said.
The information minister also criticised the role of political figures such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur who lead the protest but then disappeared. “They should serve the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of engaging in such disruptive activities,” he said.
Tarar emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring order, especially with upcoming international events like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. “World leaders are coming to participate in SCO. We will not allow anyone to spread chaos,” he declared.
