Govt will support PAF modernization: Dar


ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the government will utilize all its resources to modernize Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to ensure “an impregnable aerial defence of the country”.

He expressed these views during his visit to the PAF Headquarters in Islamabad, where finance minister met with Chief of Air Staff Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu. They discussed the evolving geo-economic environment of the country and the security situation in the region.

The air chief briefed the finance minister on various ongoing projects being carried out by the Air Force, with a special focus on modernization and development of indigenous capabilities.

He also briefed Dar on PAF’s National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP) project.

The air chief said that “this mega project is aimed at fostering collaborative research, development and innovation in the domain of aviation, space, IT, Cyber and computing.”

Government of Pakistan has termed NASTP “a project of strategic national importance” for creating opportunities for joint work between industry, academia and the government, turning it into a technology ecosystem in the country.
