RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his Information Adviser Barrister Saif held a prolonged meeting with PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
According to sources, the meeting lasted around two and a half hours in the prison’s conference room. It focused on KP’s administrative affairs, political matters, concerns over party appointments raised by Azam Swati in a previous meeting, and the security situation in KP and Balochistan. Imran Khan also issued various instructions to the chief minister.
Sources confirmed that Bushra Bibi was not part of the meeting. Gandapur and Barrister Saif arrived together in the chief minister’s vehicle and left the prison after their discussions.
The meeting followed a session between Imran Khan and PTI leader Azam Swati a day earlier, in which the PTI founder had reportedly conveyed a message regarding the resignation of the KP Assembly speaker. Today’s meeting further discussed the directives issued in the previous session.
However,KP Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has strongly rejected the allegations levelled by Azam Swati, calling him a “born liar.”
Speaking in response to Azam Swati’s press conference, Babar Saleem said he does not consider it necessary to respond to baseless statements. “Azam Swati himself admitted in his media talk that he only went to vent his frustrations, yet he is now engaging in unnecessary propaganda,” he said.
The speaker further said that all accusations against him were fabricated and baseless. “I will present my stance directly to PTI founder Imran Khan. Whatever order I receive from him, I will implement without delay,” he asserted.
He also dismissed corruption allegations against him, saying they were a “pack of lies” and that he had already provided explanations to the party’s accountability committee. “Those who rely on hypocrisy in politics can never succeed,” he added.
Last week, the Islamabad High Court restored Khan’s right to meet visitors twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while barring media interactions after these meetings. The court ruled that only those approved by Salman Akram Raja, PTI’s designated coordinator, would be allowed to meet him.
However, Raja himself was denied permission to meet Khan, while Azam Swati, Nadia Khattak, Tabish Farooq, Mubashira Awan, and Ansar Kayani were granted access.

Meanwhile, PTI’s legal representative Faisal Chaudhry alleged that some individuals had recently met with the establishment under a pre-planned arrangement to prevent messages from reaching the public. Speaking to the media in Jhelum, he stated that while meetings may be routine, any messages from Imran Khan remain undisclosed.
He further remarked that the longer Khan remains imprisoned, the greater the damage to the country, adding that there seems to be little difference between Khan’s presence in Bani Gala and in jail.
