Nawaz Maulana Fazal discuss elections, seat adjustments

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo met and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the latters residence.

Sharif went to meet his long time ally straight from Islamabad High Court where Al Azizia reference case was being heard.

Sharif was flanked by Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Ishaq Dar.

Sources said that after offering condolences to Maulana Fazlur Rehman over the death of his mother-in-law, the two leaders discussed upcoming elections, including potential seats adjustment.

The two leaders expressed their solidarity and resolve to continue their joint struggle ahead.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that Nawaz Sharif came to him to offer condolence and that they have a long history of fighting together for democracy and the rights of the people. He said that they also stayed together in the government and faced the challenges.

“We were united against an illegitimate government that had failed to deliver on any front and has brought misery and hardship to the masses. We decided today that we will walk together in the future and make adjustments in electoral matters. No one should be denied the right to party and participate in politics,” he said.

Earlier, the PML-N leader had been actively engaged in political activities in Murree where local leadership extended him an invitationcontest elections from Murree, according to party sources.

Local leaders also informed Sharif about the internal differences within the party locally where Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s son is apparently also interested in securing the PML-N ticket like the family of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar.
