ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that the Prime Minister has instituted performance targets for each ministry.
Tarar highlighted that the performance of every ministry will undergo rigorous evaluation, with specific benchmarks set to assess their achievements.
This move, he noted, reflects the government’s commitment to delivering tangible results and improving service delivery across various sectors. The Prime Minister has taken the initiative to monitor the performance of ministries, Tarar stated.

Among the key targets outlined, the Ministry of Finance has been tasked with the imperative goal of curbing inflation, alongside meeting the International Monetary Fund (IMF) targets. Tarar stressed that the government will employ modern technology to monitor progress closely and ensure accountability.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister has directed efforts towards modernizing the country’s digital infrastructure, with plans to introduce a comprehensive digital system. Tarar highlighted targets set for the digitisation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the establishment of an e-portal for accessing all laws enacted in Pakistan.
“In addition to economic reforms, priorities include enhancing security measures,” Tarar stated, indicating plans for establishing a modern terrorism prevention system and cracking down on illegal weapons through the Interior Ministry.

Acknowledging the need for comprehensive reforms, Tarar revealed plans to compile a report on human rights by September 2024 and address issues related to illegal immigration.
Tarar also expressed optimism about the country’s economic prospects, citing recent achievements in stabilising the rupee and bolstering the stock exchange. He credited the government’s efforts over the past 16 months for steering Pakistan away from default and laying the groundwork for further economic growth.
Tarar said, “A balanced cabinet has been formed, accompanied by a self-accountability mechanism, to ensure effective governance and progress for the nation.”
