PML-N vs PTI: Uzma Bukhari and Sadaqat Abbasi lock horns on national television

ISLAMABAD: A live program turned into a fiery verbal clash as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Uzma Bukhari and Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaaf (PTI) leader Sadaqat Ali Abbasi engaged in a heated dispute.

During the broadcast of Hum Dekhenge with Mansoor Ali Khan on Hum News, the confrontation sparked following host Khan directed a question at Abbasi.

Khan pointed out a contrast in PTI’s reaction to legal cases involving political figures. He said that while the PTI celebrated legal outcomes in the PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif’s cases, a contrasting reaction emerged when PTI chief faced similar circumstances, leading to allegations of injustice and protests against the judiciary.

Following the pointed question, tensions escalated as Bukhari accused Abbasi of evading authorities. “Abbasi has remained elusive from law enforcement, avoiding police scrutiny and grappling with charges linked to the May 9 unrest. To my knowledge, he is subject to at least three First Investigation Reports (FIR) and has been eluding justice,” the PML-N leader exclaimed.

During the episode, Bukhari went on to implicate Abbasi in the incidents at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ) on May 9, which followed the arrest of PTI’s chief. “If he claims innocence, then he must have a doppelganger,” she added.

Expressing her displeasure, Bukhari stated, “Why must I be seated next to a fugitive? As a responsible citizen, I stand accountable. Evading and absconding are not part of my character, unlike a fugitive.”

Meanwhile, in response to the allegations, Abbasi dismissed Bukhari’s claims as deliberate misinformation. “I challenge Miss Bukhari, on behalf of the entire PML-N. If her claims are proven baseless, a public apology is expected,” Abbasi retorted.

Abbasi firmly denied any FIR filed against him, asserting, “I am not a fugitive. As for being labeled one, perhaps that term applies elsewhere. Your leader Nawaz Sharif fled authorities, from police to courtrooms. The true meaning appears lost on you.”

Tensions escalated as both leaders stood their ground on the live show, underscoring the deep-seated divisions within the political landscape.
