PPP urges PML-N to consider replacing Sindh governor

Kamran Tessori

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has made scathing remarks against Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, dubbing him as the “most failed governor.”

The statement came from PPP Leader Waqar Mehdi, who urged the ruling coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to consider appointing a new governor for Sindh.

Waqar Mehdi, in a pointed statement, criticised Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori for his alleged failure to effectively represent the federation and foster consensus. Mehdi highlighted that instead of bridging divides, Tessori’s tenure has exacerbated political rifts within the region.

“Governor Kamran Tessori has not fulfilled his role as a unifying figure but has rather contributed to the fragmentation of political discourse,” Mehdi said.

He further suggested that Tessori should consider taking a vacation, insinuating that his departure would be beneficial for the province. Additionally, Mehdi advised the PML-N to nominate a replacement for the gubernatorial position.

Responding to these allegations, Governor Kamran Tessori dismissed the criticism, asserting that the PPP had no authority to pass judgment on his performance. Tessori labelled Mehdi’s statements as frivolous and called upon the PPP to clarify its stance.

Notably, Tessori had previously indicated his intent to continue serving as governor on behalf of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Pakistan leadership.
