PTI rejects Rana Sanaullah’s proposal for grand dialogue

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly rejected an offer by Adviser to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah for a grand dialogue.

PTI asserted that any talks must involve parties with genuine authority and power.

In a statement made during a private TV channel program, PTI’s Information Secretary Rauf Hassan dismissed the proposal, questioning the legitimacy of Sanaullah and Shehbaz Sharif as representatives for negotiation.

Hassan emphasised that PTI would only engage in dialogue with those possessing real decision-making power, dismissing Sanaullah and Sharif as mere proxies lacking substantive authority.

Sanaullah had earlier proposed a grand dialogue, suggesting the involvement of various institutions and advocating for the inclusion of individuals allegedly falsely accused and imprisoned. However, PTI rebuffed these overtures, asserting that talks should be conducted on terms that prioritize genuine authority and accountability.

Rejecting the notion of engaging in talks according to Imran Khan’s will, Sanaullah emphasised the need for unconditional dialogue involving institutional representation and addressing the grievances of those unjustly detained.

He also speculated on the potential for an opposition alliance, involving even Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to engage in dialogue with the government, citing prospects for political and economic stability.

In a separate appearance on a private news channel, Sanaullah praised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), highlighting its contributions to national security, including making Pakistan a nuclear power. He expressed confidence in the party’s leadership under Shahbaz Sharif and speculated on the return of Nawaz Sharif to the presidency of the party, foreseeing a resurgence in PML-N’s political momentum. – INP
