ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court today began hearing a petition challenging a proposed constitutional amendment, only to swiftly dismiss the case after petitioners sought to withdraw it.
A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, along with Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, conducted the proceedings.
Veteran lawyer Hamid Khan appeared before the court representing the petitioners, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Hamid Khan requested the court to allow for withdrawal of the petition.

Chief Justice Isa questioned the decision, asking, “Were you appointed a lawyer only to withdraw the application?” adding, “Abid Zuberi himself could have withdrawn the application”.
The chief justice also pointed out that there was a second application scheduled with objections as well. Hamid Khan then confirmed the withdrawal of both petitions.
Following the withdrawal request, the Supreme Court formally dismissed the case.
