WEB DESK: The acting president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Hammad Azhar stepped down from his position for a third time citing allegations levied by Azam Swati. The last time Azhar did so was in August 2024.
Azhar wrote on his X account that he was stepping down for the ‘final’ time: “Azam Swati informed Imran Khan that Alia Hamza was being obstructed from working, and when the founder asked to share details, Azam Swati mentioned my name.”
He added that, however, when he reached out to Alia Hamza, she clarified that there were no obstructions which eventually led him to a decision to step down: “The easiest solution for me is to resign from all positions.“

Prior to this, whenever Hammad Azhar resigned, his resignation was not accepted; but he maintained that this time his decision was irrevocable. He added that his powers had already been handed over to the four regional presidents in June 2024, and the organisation of his constituency was also done without his consent.
Azhar will continue to be associated with the party: “As a worker, I will continue to serve my leader in the future.”
