Toshakhana 2.0 case: court told Imran Khan received 108 gifts as PM

RAWALPINDI: A key witness in the Toshakhana 2.0 case presented a list of more than 100 gifts received by Imran Khan as prime minister to the court during hearing of the case held in Adiala Jail on Monday.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were present in the hearing conducted by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand.

Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja and Faisal Chaudhry also appeared in the court during the hearing of the Toshakhana 2.0 case.

During the hearing, the statement of a key witness from Cabinet Division was recorded.

Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Arshad Tabraiz partially cross-examined the witness – Section Officer Binyamin, who represents Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Bushra’s lawyer will resume cross examination at the next hearing of the case.

Similarly, Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar will also cross-examine the witness at the next hearing.

The witness presented a 100-page record in the court, featuring a list of 108 gifts received by PTI founder Imran Khan during his time in the prime minister office.

Besides, the witness also presented two registers related to the record of Toshakhana gifts to the court.

Moreover, the witness also briefed the court about the legal procedure of hiring private appraisers for assessing the value of gifts.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till January 2.

So far a total of three witnesses have been recorded in the Toshakhana 2.0 case.

Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were indicted in Toshakhana 2.0 case during a hearing held at Adiala Jail on Dec 12.

Both the former premier and the former first lady denied the charges.

The initial investigation into the Toshakhana 2.0 case was conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The proceedings of the Toshakhana case were carried out in the past as well. However, after the NAB amendments were passed in the national assembly, the case was transferred to the FIA.

After the initial investigation in September 2024, the challan was submitted to the court. In the hearings carried out by the special court, Bushra Bibi failed to appear in the court, which delayed the indictment.
