In its ongoing efforts to substantially control gas theft incidences, SSGC conducted raids across its franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
During a number of fresh raids, Customer Relations’ Department’s theft control team removed 1,513 illegal connections in Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Naushero Feroze (Nawabshah Zone) where the residents were stealing gas through illegal extensions of gas pipes.
In Ghaniabad, Maymar Zone alone the team removed 1,200 illegal connections, whereas in Karachi the team also removed illegal connections from different blocks of Nazimabad (from where 105 illegal connections were cut off), Liaquatabad and F. B. Area. Theft claims are being raised against the culprits.
Gas theft is a serious crime against the community and is one of the key reasons behind Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG). SSGC has zero tolerance against gas thieves and will continue to take strict action against them as per Gas (Theft Control and Recovery) Act 2016.
