MULTAN: Pakistan Test Team Captain Shan Masood, speaking after the victorious test match against West Indies, credited the win to the entire team.
Accepting the team’s shortcomings, he said that the only solution is to keep improving. “Flaws exist in every department. If we want to make ourselves the best, we have to improve ourselves further,” he said.
Speaking about the game, he said, “The biggest difficulty on this pitch was batting. Rizwan and Saud’s partnership was important.” He added that sometimes performance can just be 20 or 30 runs, but “a win is a win.”
Shan Masood said that he and the players have noted down many things from this match. “This is a team game. One department has to make sacrifices for the other department,” he said, adding that everyone in the team played a crucial role in securing this win. “Victory belongs to everyone,” Shan Masood said.
The skipper said that he is not concerned with the “best and the worst”. Rather, he said, spending time in tough conditions is an important step. “Personal achievement is not important [for me]. I try to just focus on my responsibility,” he said, adding, “I focus on my job instead of criticising.”
The skipper shared that the team has brought Rohail Nazir and Kashif Ali into the team environment. “Whomever is needed at any point will be made to play,” Shan Masood said.
Sajid Khan – who bagged five wickets in the game against WI – said that “Shan Masood’s game in the second innings was noteworthy.” Reiterating the captain’s words, Sajid Khan said that the credit for the victory goes to the entire team.
Sajid Khan said that the ball was turning more on the pitch in today’s game. However, he said, “the pace was slow in the second innings due, so we did not concede many runs.”
“The plan was to not let the opposite team score runs,” Sajid Khan said.
