LAHORE: Commonwealth Games gold medalist in javelin throw Arshad Nadeem said that he was determined to stage a formidable return in the upcoming World Athletics Championship following a knee injury he had back in 2021.
According to Geo News, Nadeem was preparing for the global event, slated to be held in Hungary from August 25 to 27.
Speaking to the media during his sessions at Lahore’s Punjab Stadium, Nadeem said that he has successful recovered from the injury.
“Regrettably, I couldn’t partake in the Asian Championship due to the injury. However, I have now commenced intensive training and am eagerly anticipating clinching medals in the imminent competitions,” he added.

He told the media that post the World Athletics Championship, he was set to feature in the Asian Games, commencing on September 23 in Hangzhou, China.
Meanwhile, the national champion said that he was aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Next year’s Olympics is my objective. I am striving to prepare for the Olympics once again. Although the government has extended its support, but there is still room for improvement to align with global benchmarks,” Arshad Nadeem said.
The gold medalist javelin thrower said that his Indian counterpart Neeraj Chopra enjoyed far superior facilities than he did. “That’s the disparity between us,” Nadeem said.
It is pertinent to mention that Nadeem incurred the knee injury during the 34th National Games.
Meanwhile, the chief of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan Akram Sahi revealed that Arshad Nadeem had sustained a right knee injury and had undergone left knee surgery last year.
