Arshad Nadeem: Sindh gov’t announces Rs50 m for Olympic gold medalist

KARACHI: The Sindh government announced a reward of Rs50 million for Pakistan javelin throw athlete Arshad Nadeem after he won the nation’s first gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 40 years.
Arshad Nadeem’s victory at the Paris Olympics ignited a wave of national pride and celebration across Pakistan. Nadeem claimed gold medal in javelin throw, setting an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 metres.
The achievement makes him the first Pakistani to win an individual Olympic gold in 40 years.

The response from the nation’s leaders has been overwhelmingly positive. The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar congratulated Nadeem. Tarar announced that Nadeem will be celebrated as a national hero.
Similary, the Prime Minister planned to unveil a historic package in his honour. The PM stated that Nadeem’s return will be marked by a grand reception.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised Nadeem, calling him the pride of Pakistan. He praised Nadeem’s record-setting throw as a great accomplishment for the nation.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also extended his congratulations. He pointed out the javelin-thrower’s tireless work and dedication.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Sindh National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori both praised Arshad Nadeem.
