Blind Cricket World Cup: Lahore phase ends, Multan awaits

LAHORE/MULTAN: The Lahore segment of the 4th T20 Blind Cricket World Cup wrapped up, paving the way for the next round of the tournament.

The next round of the Blind Cricket World Cup is scheduled to commence in Multan on Friday (tomorrow). The upcoming matches will feature Pakistan’s blind cricket team taking on Sri Lanka, while South Africa will compete against Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s blind cricket team made a stunning entry into the semifinals, securing a huge ten-wicket victory over Nepal at the Ghani Institute Cricket ground.

The Men in Green chased a target of 101 runs, achieving their goal in just 6.4 overs without losing a single wicket.

Naeemtullah was the standout player, scoring an impressive 73 runs off 30 balls. Mohammad Safdar made a modest 24 runs off 14 balls.

Nepal, who had chosen to bat first, managed to scrap together 100 runs for a loss of five wickets in their allotted 18 overs.

Bharat Thapa emerged as the top-scorer for his team, managing 39 runs at a loss of 46 balls.

Haroon Khan was the star bowler for Pakistan, claiming two wickets while yielding just five runs.

Naeemtullah’s performance earned him the “Player of the Match” award, presented by the Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC), Syed Sultan Shah.

In other matches reported by the PBCC, Sri Lanka recorded their third victory of the tournament. They defeated South Africa by 53 runs.

Suranga Sampat was the highlight of the match as he scored 56 runs off 36 ball, helping his team post a total of 217 runs for six wickets.

Meanwhile, the South African managed to score only 164 at a loss of nine wickets.  

At Bagh-e-Jinnah Cricket ground, Bangladesh secured a eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan. The Afghans batted first, setting a target of 149 runs.

The South Asian team easily chased down the target in just twelve overs, led by a remarkable performance by Arif Hussain, who scoring an unbeaten 89 runs off 44 balls.
