LAHORE: ICC Broadcasters have suggested that holding India’s matches at two separate venues for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will increase viewership, reports said on Friday.
The initial proposal by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would see India’s matches held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the rationale that broadcasters would have to travel less.
However, ICC broadcasters believe that holding the matches at different venues will increase the value of the event, a proposal that the PCB had no objection to. The PCB suggested the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as the second location.

The eight qualifying teams will be divided into two groups, with Group A including Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Group B will include Australia, Afghanistan, England, and South Africa.
The final schedule for the tournament will be revealed sometime in October, with the current draft having the opening match set for February 15, and will see Pakistan face off against New Zealand. Arch rivals India will face Pakistan in Lahore on March 1 in Lahore.
The proposed schedule also has India facing off against Bangladesh on February 20, and against New Zealand on February 23.
Currently, the proposed schedule has all three matches set to be played in Lahore, meaning that with the new proposal from the ICC, at least one of these contests will be moved to Rawalpindi.
