MULTAN: Pakistan dominated England in their first innings, getting them all out for 291 in the first session on Thursday, thanks to a superb bowling attack from Sajid Khan and Noman Ali.
SAJID KHAN
Sajid Khan has been the star of the past two days, taking seven wickets in the 27 overs he bowled. His assault began in the 24th, sending off Ollie Pope after a attempted drive backfired on the English batter, as the ball took a sharp turn into the wickets.
Khan would take another in the 42nd, taking out England’s leading test run scorer Joe Root, as the delivery from Sajid found the bottom edge of Roots bat, which deflected the ball into the stumps.
Sajid would strike twice in the 44th, first dismissing Ben Duckett, after the delivery found the edge of the bat, sending the ball into the man at first slip, Agha Salman’s hands. Harry Brook, who scored a triple century in the first test, was dismissed next, as he was castled by Sajid in an attempt to play at the ball turning in.
The 58th over would see Sajid get his fifth wicket as he dismissed Brydon Carse. Despite a good connection with the bat, the ball went directly to Saud Shakeel.
Duckett smashes unbeaten 50 to lead England’s reply to Pakistan’s 366 all out
He would get his sixth wicket in the 60th over as Matthew Potts was bowled through the legs, with Sajid nutmegging the English player, before taking out the middle stump.
Sajid would get his seventh, after Shoaib Bashir hit the ball straight to Pakistan captain Shan Masood in the 68th over.
NOMAN ALI
Noman Ali would also have a fantastic performance, taking three wickets of his own. He would get the first wicket of the match by taking out Zac Crawley. After the ball hit the edge of Crawley’s bat, it was caught by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. The umpire didn’t agree at first, but the review was very convincing.
English skipper Ben Stokes would fall in the 45th over, after the delivery from Ali hit the inside edge of the Stokes’ bat, before ricocheting onto his pads, and eventually landing in Abdullah Shafique’s hands.
England’s ninth wicket would fall in the 61st over, as Jamie Smith launched the delivery from Ali into the sky, right into the hands of Saim Ayub.
England’s first innings came to an end in the 68th over after they made 287 runs. They trail by 75 runs.
