Hazara Region secures spot in Zalmi Women’s Cricket League final

PESHAWAR: In a nail-biting semifinal showdown of the Zalmi Women’s Cricket League at the Hayatabad Cricket Stadium, the Hazara Region won over the Peshawar Thunders.
The Hazaras secured a spot in the Zalmi Women’s Cricket League final with a 13-run victory.

Hazara opted to bat first, posting a total of 75 runs while losing four wickets. Momina was the star of the winnings, smashing over 46 runs.
When it was their turn at the crease, the Peshawar Thunders fell short. They managed only 62 runs before being dismissed.
Urooj stood out with the ball for the Thunders, taking two wickets. Sumbal and Aniya each clinched a wicket each.
The final match of the Zalmi Women’s Cricket League is set to take place on Saturday (today), with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, attending as the chief guest for the concluding ceremony.
In the other semifinal, the Hazara Daffodils will go head-to-head against the Peshawar All Stars, with the winner advancing to the championship final.
Earlier in the tournament, the Peshawar Thunders has secured a sound victory over the DI Khan team by 62 runs, while Hazara edged past Malakand Region by just three runs.
Meanwhile, the Multan Region team achieved a ten wicket win over Kohat on the same day.
The Zalmi Women’s Cricket League was started by the Zalmi Foundation in partnership with telecom company, Ufone 4G.
It is Pakistan’s first women’s cricket league, aimed at empowering female athletes in the country.

The league features eight teams divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds., with the finals to determine the champion.
The tournament is set to run from December 3 till December 7 at the Hayatabad Sports Complex.
